According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), the leaders of this market are five major manufacturers – Xiaomi, Apple, Huawei, Fitbit and Samsung. Their collective share accounts for 65.7% of the total market. It is noted that this figure has increased by 12% over the past year.
According to IDC Research Manager Jitesh Ubrani, one of the key factors affecting the popularity of Wearable devices smartphone is their focus on user health. And the second decisive moment was mobile payments – two of the five modern models of smart watches and smart bracelets now support NFC.
Xiaomi became the leader in the number of units sold for smart watches and fitness trackers. Analysts emphasized that this year the brand owes its success to the release of Mi Band 4 , which has become a favorite of people for a reasonable ratio of functions and cost of the gadget.
In the second position is the American corporation Apple. But here it is necessary to stop in more detail. In terms of the number of devices sold, the company really took the “silver” IDC rating. But at the same time, it was ahead of all competitors in dollar value, since the average selling price of Apple Watch during the second quarter was $ 448. Plus, the other day the manufacturer presented the Wearable devices smartphone Apple Watch Series 5 , which will help keep the brand a leading position in the smart watch market. In third place is the Chinese company Huawei. Experts see its success in the fact that it represents two brands on the market at once. For mass consumers, they release gadgets under the name of Huawei, and specifically Honor devices are aimed at young people.
The fourth position is taken by Fitbit. This company did not show very large growth due to the weak interest of customers in the Versa Lite model. But then the Inspire and Versa 2 models leveled the brand. And Samsung closes the top five. Experts note a steady demand for Galaxy Fit and Galaxy FitE fitness trackers, as well as Galaxy Watch smart watches.
According to IDC experts, by the end of the year Wearable devices smartphone will show further growth, and sales will reach 152.7 million units. At the end of 2019, an increase of 21.7% may occur, compared with total sales in 2018.
